Leather Duffel Bags vs Nylon: Which Material Is Better?

Leather duffel bags like the Luhxe Leather Duffel age well and look more polished for business travel, but weigh more. The Travel Bag 2.0 uses durable fabric that is lighter and easier to clean — better for rugged trips or gym use. Both materials hold up to regular travel, so the choice comes down to whether you are heading to a boardroom or a trailhead.

Duffel Bags That Fit in the Overhead Bin

Unlike hard-shell suitcases, duffel bags compress and flex to fit into tight overhead spaces. Every Luhxe duffel meets carry-on requirements on Delta, United, American, Southwest, and JetBlue, saving you up to $65 in baggage fees per flight. The soft structure also means you can stuff them into car trunks, boat compartments, or hostel lockers where rigid luggage will not go.

Duffel Bags with Shoe Compartments

Both Luhxe duffel bags include a separate shoe compartment that keeps dirty soles away from your clothes. Each bag also ships with a free shoe bag for extra protection. Pack up to 5 pairs without mixing footwear into your main clothing area.

FAQs about duffel bags

Can I use a duffel bag as a carry-on?
Yes. Luhxe duffel bags are carry-on approved on 100+ airlines. Soft-sided duffels fit overhead bins more easily than rigid suitcases because they compress to fill the available space.
What size duffel bag do I need?
For weekend trips, any Luhxe duffel works. For full-week travel, the Travel Bag 2.0 or Leather Duffel both hold 38+ items of clothing and 5 pairs of shoes — enough for 5–7 days.
Do duffel bags wrinkle your clothes?
They can, but Luhxe duffel bags include a built-in hanger and wrinkle-resistant lining specifically designed to keep clothes flat. Pack a blazer or dress and pull it out ready to wear.
Are leather duffel bags worth it?
Leather duffel bags last longer and look better with age. The Luhxe Leather Duffel comes with a 100-day money-back guarantee, so you can test it risk-free.
Will a duffel bag fit in an overhead bin?
Luhxe duffels are sized to meet carry-on requirements on over 100 airlines, so they fit the overhead bin without checking. Soft sides also let them compress into tighter bins than a hard shell.
Do Luhxe duffels keep shoes separate from clothes?
Yes. A built-in shoe compartment keeps footwear away from the main packing space, so clothes stay clean without wrapping shoes in bags.
What is the difference between a duffel and a weekender?
The terms overlap. A weekender is simply a duffel sized for two to four nights, which is what most Luhxe duffels are built for.
